"auto subscribe user groups"-plugin doesn't work

Yes, I have enabled the " subscribe to forum " option.
SP: 6.0
WP: 4.2.2
Subscriptions: 1.4.11
I am starting to fear that I am overlooking something obvious/ doing something stupid.. Maybe I should give you guys access to the backend? Or is there something else I could try..?

out of curiosity, have you looked in the php error log to see if any errors?
