Hi all,
So....the file uploader plugin is installed. Now when replying to a post we're able to see the upload attachments button.
When we select that button though and then click Add Files nothing happens.
This is with Internet Explorer.
When I do the same thing with Chrome we get a dialog that allows us to browse and add a file.
I'm pretty sure the errror is with Internet Explorer, but other than disabling the pop up blocker I don't know what else to try (disabling the pop up blocker didn't work btw). Can anyone point me to a setting in Internet Explorer that might prevent the add a file upload dialog box from appearing?
Unfortunately, IE is the office standard as some of our office products require it to run correctly.
Thanks so much.

OMG! After writing the above I see that i can add a file using the upload attachments on this site.
What gives?! Why your site and not mine...Why google chrome on my site and not IE? Any suggestions?
Thanks again!
UPDATE: Just disabled all my plugins to see if that is the issue, unfortunately no. The score still is IE upload works on this site, not mine. Google Chrome upload works on my site, but not IE. Go figure...
Well I guess the first thing to ask is which version of IE as there is no testing performed on anything older than V7.
And no - there should be no problem with IE so it is almost certainly going to come down to a script issue on your site and - if it is working Ok with other browsers - possibly a script that is being loaded by your theme or another plugin that is only loaded when IE is detected as the user agent.
This has been a common method in the past to overcome deficiencies in IE so it is possible. If we can have a link to your site we can inspect what is being loaded to see if we can spot anything. If it IS something only being loaded for IE then I wont be able to spot that as I only have a Mac available but Steve would be able to look tonight I am sure.

IE9 is our browser and I sure do wish I could give you our web address, but it's an internally hosted blog.
Bah.
A script issue...
Any suggestions on how I can test that? I disabled all the plugins, but not sure how to deal with the scripting you mention.
Thanks so much for your input.
Eric
Well - if you are willing - probably the quickest and easiest thing you could do would be to load up a topic so that the uploader in on the page. Then go to the browsers 'View Source' menu option (not sure where that is on IE) and this should open up the generated html in a window. If you copy that and paste it to a simple text file you could email it to me and I can look at what scripts are being loaded. You never know - i might spot something!
if you want to do that send it support at simple-press dot com and I can take a look.

you could also try a quick temp switch to the default wp theme and see if that makes it work...
or post the link too as I have IE access - just Andy doesnt... emailing the source is still good idea...

Gentlemen,
I emailed the txt file as requested to support...I also tried switching the themes and that was a no go.
Excellent suggestion though.
Weird that it doesn't seem to be a plugin, it's not the theme (magazine premium) and it only happens on our internally hosted site. I'm not savvy enough to understand where the problem lies, although it seems clear the issue is ours alone. Hopefully the text file clues you in.
Eric
Nothing odd jumps out in the source except for javascript at the very bottom that is coded using the $ vs jQuery... the $ can cause problems in wp... but not usually just limited to IE ad its an IE 8 check...
so couple things to try...
when you disable all the other plugins or switch to the wp theme, did you clear your browser cache afterwards?? IE is notorious for hanging on to cached js in particular...
Is it possible to use the IE developer tools if you are not using them now? http://www.microsoft.com/downl.....x?id=18359 with them you can make sure the cache is empty... AND more importantly, you check the console for js errors when you click on the Add Files button... might give some more info since we cannot view the page and the issue...

Well, I appreciate the responses.
Nothing yet although we have discovered that chrome works, IE9 64bit works, but IE9 32bit does not.
Too bad 32bit IE9 is our default.
The IT guy is trying to figure out if he's changed a setting to IE9 via group policy that may be affecting our ability to upload an image. So no news, yet, but if anyone is aware of what might be different between IE9 64bit and 32bit that would affect our ability to upload images let me know.
In short, I hope someone tells me "hey stupid, push this button and everything will be fine...."
Sorry, I am not aware of any difference... must admit I have not seen a 32 bit version of IE in a long time since 64 bit machines have been around...
I do see some issues with flash adobe not working in 32 bit versions when I google around... can you tell me what runtime you get for the uploader? with attachments form open, hover over the funky/colorful icon in the upper left... it should tell you the runtime... if its flash, that may be the problem.... flash is way down the list in priority, but perhaps your other ones (like html 5 or silverlight) are not available...
