do I understand that this was a fresh install?

ignore the notices – annoyances from php… fixed as they come up…  but still missing columns in the db…

which sp version?  asking because 5.3 was released this morning…

and are you running the simple press file uploader plugin?  seems so it would be whats the request for the attachments…  which version of it?  might be worth uninstall the file uploader plugin and then reactivating it and let it try to create its db entries again…  this may be true for other plugins if they couldnt create db stuff previously…

That crashed the whole plugin again. I can’t use the GUI again. 

This was a fresh install yes and I uninstalled and re-installed the uploader which crashed the plugin. I will continue my efforts tomorrow morning. There is also a new wordpress update which I have not read the release notes on yet. I will deactivate your plugin and all other plugins to update wordpress. I then will download your new update and make sure the uploader is updated then cross my fingers. The WP platform seems to have become unstable over the past 2 months. 

Ok I installed the new version of WP and your new SP plugin and installed the new updated uploader. All the errors are gone but of course the uploader fixed all the php errors. Now to get the groups back. I checked all the tables in the database with the analyze tool through phpadmin. All the tables are marked as followed.

Alright I also updated all the other plugins that needed update but check this out. It is asking me to update to the same version again and when I try to activate it the screen goes blank completely. All I see is the toolbars for WP GUI Console.

I am very close to setting up a new domain and a new machine with wordpress because I wanted to do that anyways for SEO stuff. Before I do this can I import all the posts from your plugin with the data importer? I was’t planning on moving the forum until August but business is up so I want to have the new site up in 2 months so I can catch the next up trend in November.

the importer will import for other forum applications… its not set up to import other simple press installs…

Ok so what should I try next to get the groups back?

sorry, but have lost the bubble as to where we were at…

are you saying you are missing the group and forum display on the front end?  what do you see now?

have permissions been dumped? do you have custom permissions set up?  you could try going to forum – toolbox – housekeeping and resetting the permissions… but then you would have to do you custom setup (if any) again…  perhaps catch us up to date first via questions above in this post…

Simple:press 5.3 was released yesterday? I just downloaded the new files from your site. I think your site is cached to long because I just upgraded and it still says 5.2.6

there is no caching on this site… zero, nada, zilch…

we were a little slow in updating the actual download page, so perhaps you got in that window… 

and our site is irrelevant if you are using the wp updater within the admin…

I cleared my cache and still see verison 5.2.6 on your site. Not 5.3

Then it should tell me I have an upgrade but I don’t see that. I try to stay away from updating through wordpress because every time I do with your plugin it crashes. I use wp updater on all other plugins though and it never crashes.

and yes, if you have 5.2.6, it should tell you upgrade…

please go to forum – toolbox – environment in your admin and verify the sp version…
