Support Forum
Hey guys,
First of all - longtime user and I do love Simple:Press. I've had it installed on my site for a few years, had a ton of the SP plugins running (including Private Messaging among them). Well, a long story short, we had a bunch of server problems that had nothing to do with SP. The end result was deactivating SP for a while and sorting out the site hosting issue.
That day for a new host finally came and I got the latest version of SP to install. I also dropped all my old plugins in the sp-resources/forum-plugins folder. From there I did a new install of Simple Press and updated all the plugins.
Thing is - when I activated Private Messaging I couldn't send any messages since the autocomplete wasn't working. I couldn't even directly enter a name without an error. I then went and switched themes, turned other plugins on and off and tried a ton of browsers and got bupkis. Autocomplete just would not work.
Saw this thread https://simple-press.com/suppo.....-1/page-4/
But I'm not really having those exact problems. This is a new hosting site with a clean DB and fresh version of SP. Also - we don't have any caching plugins running.
Any thoughts as to what might do the trick here? I will say the only thing not totally fresh as far as I can tell is the 'install' of Private Messaging which was updated to v 2.4.2 when I installed SP anew.

Thanks for the reply.
- SP Forums are v 5.7.4
- PM Plugin v 2.4.2
- Word Press v 4.7.3
Nothing in the Toolbox log, I cleared is and restarted the plugin to re-check. Nothing came up. Check the PHP Error log and nothing there too.
I reverted WP themes, turned on and off plugins. Didn't see any change. Tried all the major browsers too.

also, when trying to get the autocomplete, what is reported in the browser console? in particular, for the ajax response...

OK - got it to work. I was browsing the members page and noticed the Admins had the little PM icon but none of the Members did. Sure enough, I tried typing an Admin's name in the autocomplete and it worked. Then I had the bright idea to check permissions.....
and....
well..... HAHAHAHA! DANG IT! Didn't know I needed to do this!
Oh well. Thanks for the reply though!
