wish there was too! but limit to how to debug on live server using wp and php... and namely js conflicts or if one wants to inspect css/problem-with-post-edit-buttontml, you need a nice web tool... firefox and firebug are our tools of choice... there are similar tools for IE, Chrome, safari and opera... one can use whatever they want...
those developer tools are done by dozens of folks and way out of scope for wp or any plugin for wp...
those tools represent a quick and easy way to gather information to debug a situation...

It looks like Steve was volunteering to check and diagnose the issue but guests cannot use the rating system, so he couldn't. At that point the only option was for veritasnoctis to give him the ability to use the rating system or diagnose himself.
There could be some more info supplied on where to look for what is being reported, worked on or fixed. You can look at http://mantis.simple-press.com/ and see a lot of that there.

I haven't had time yet to mess around with Firebug, and I'm not sure if I could diagnose the problem anyway.
Nothing visible happens when I click on the thumps up or down. The cursor arrow doesn't change to a pointing finger. The thumbs just look like unlinked images. The rating system was working on 4.x, but not in 5.x.

couple comments...
first, guests cannot rate posts, so I cannot really try...
second, I do see thumb up and thumb down images... the cursor only changes to finger if you can rate on the post... you can only rate a post once...
but I do notice you have a plugin that is attempting to minify js... I would suggest disabling that on forum page or maybe altogether... it tends to cause problems, especially with js that has already been minimized as ours as... it would at least be a good test...

So there's nothing I can do to let you as a guest rate posts?
As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I have javascript minification with the WP-Minify plugin disabled already because it was interfering with another plugin. I don't think I have any other plugin that would be minifying javascript. The WP-Minify plugin should only be minifying css and html (whatever minifying html means). Earlier in the thread I mentioned that I tried disabling WP-Minify altogether and that had no effect.

yes, I know you mentioned that.. but you said you were seeing the thumbs as unlinked images... this could potentially be because of bad minimization of the html or css... I was just wanting to disable the minify plugin completely to rule it out...
afraid if you want me to look closer, you will need to create a temp user account for use so we can try to rate a post and see what is up... if you do that, be sure to pm the details to myself AND yellow swordfish...
