Support Forum
On the subscriptions issue I did actually subscribe to three threads yesterday morning to see if anything happened in terms of email. Sadly none of those three threads has since had a new post so I am still waiting on that. If you want to make a new post to test this out then i am subscribed to the topics 'Willy Weasals Nap of the Day', 'Introduce yourself' and 'Trainer trend of the day'.
But - as I believe we have said above - emails are the province of WordPress. Simple:Press emails are simply sent to the WordPress email system and if they are not being sent it is this that needs to be looked at. Simple:Press is a WordPress plugin that uses WP core code and routines.
On the permission front the best and easiest way really is to grant us SP admin capabilities so we can look at your data setup closely to see if we can see any issue. Access control of this nature is working just fine for all our other users including for us on this site and while I would be stupid to rule out a possible bug in the system these things more usually come down to the setup.

Hi Yellow Swordfish
There have been updates now to the threads that you mentioned. Did you receive anything?
If i manually send a password reset email, from within WP, or someone requests a password reset they do get an email. If that is what you are asking?
You should have SP admin capabilities? Do you not?
No - as I confirmed above - no emails.
So - the only difference between a natively generated WordPress sent email and a Simple:Press generated WordPress sent email are the email overrides in the forum Options > Email Settings panel. I would investigate these to make sure they are (1) correct and (2) do connect to a genuine mailbox as some hosts will not process an email if the mailbox is phantom.
And no - the user created is a WordPress administrator but not an SP Admin. They are not the same thing. They requires the extra capabilities you set up in the forum admin.

You are going to have to send login details again please. I clear my PM list regularly I am afraid.
In fact - to do this in the best way please PM credentials to both myself and to 'Mr Papa'. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you.
Thanks

Hi both,
Sent you both a PM with required information.
We have two lasting issues which I would really really appreciate if one of you could take a look in to this asap as it is causing major problems on our site and resulting in member cancellations E.g. it is costing me money
Thanks in advance for your help...
Permissions: I assume you refer to your user group named 'free'. The ONLY forums that this user group is set up to see are 'Phantom Lays', 'Final Score' and 'Super Tips. They have NOT been granted access to any other forums. I do not know if this is correct or not but it seems to run counter to what I believe you are saying you want - which is that these users should have access to all forums. If this is the case then you need to go through the other forums and add this user group in to the mix.
Emails: I am not sure if I can really add anything to this. As I asked above - if your email option settings are correct (I see they are set to a 'co.uk' domain and not 'net' as is the site but I assume that is correct) and that they point to a genuine mail box then the problem must lie elsewhere. Note too that you have the checkbox checked for using the SP alternative new user registration emails as well.
I would suggest you turn OFF the email options ('Use the following email settings') on the forum email option form and see what happens.

Permissions: we had to give everybody access until we figure this out but the FREE user is added as a forum group permission. And the problem lied not in the fact that they couldn't see all but those you mentioned, but that they couldn't see the FINAL SCORE and SUPER TIPS forum even though they have specific forum permissions for this.
Email Subscriptions: testing to see if your advice works. Will update
