Oh great.

The table to look at is called ‘sfoptions’. Yiou are looking for a row where the ‘option_name’ is ‘tinymce’ and I need to know the contents of the column ‘option_value’. If you could copy and paste them to me it should help.

Then – to save time – could you replace the current content with the following:

a:11:{s:6:"height";s:3:"360";s:7:"plugins";s:45:"inlinepopups,media,spoiler,spellchecker,paste";s:8:"buttons1";s:119:"bold,italic,underline,|,bullist,numlist,|,blockquote,outdent,indent,|,link,unlink,|,undo,redo,forecolor,charmap,|,image";s:8:"buttons2";s:0:"";s:11:"buttons1add";s:69:"media,|,spoiler,|,pastetext,pasteword,|,selectall,code,|,spellchecker";s:11:"buttons2add";s:0:"";s:4:"lang";s:2:"en";s:12:"rejectformat";b:0;s:3:"rtl";b:0;s:8:"relative";b:1;s:9:"dbversion";i:2;}

Select this using the raw code option is best!

Ok, here’s what’s currently in the option_value:

s:34:”a:1:{s:7:”plugins”;s:7:”,wltags”;}”;

I replaced that with your code above, saved it, then checked the forum. Still no editor :-(

Sorry this is so crazy! But I really do appreciate your help!

Whoa there!

I keep forgetting this. Look at that data. It is WishList Tags doing this.

What we don’t yet understand is (1) Why WishList tags is writing data to that particular row (tinymce) and (2) why it is even writing data to one of our forum tables!

But that looks like the culprit.

And sorry to say that at the moment – I don’t have a solution handy… I don’t even know what WishList tags does or is for!

Hmm…. The folks at WishList told me that I needed the TinyMCE plugin for SP in order for the tagging plugin to work. WLM Tags allows you to “tag” or “mention” another member and have them notified (like Facebook/Twitter, etc.). I’ll turn this back over to them now.

NOTE: I said above that the buttons were still not showing up after adding in your code, but the WLM Tags plugin was still active. I deactivated it, replaced the code in the DB again and voila! the buttons are there. So definitely working now on your end (THANK YOU!) and I’ll go bug their developers again….

I too have put a support question to the WishList Tags guys. We had suspected this bit on seeing the data you sent me it was clear this was the culprit. Hopefully, between us, we will be able to resolve this once and for all.

Hi Guys,

My issue still remain:

TinyMCE toolbar missing/not visable after latest SP update.

However, it only apply to forum members with IE8 and IE9. Members with Firefox and Chrome have no issues.

Would you like me to start a new thread on this topic?

Cheers

You are really going to have to ask someone to see if they can spot any script errors. I am not actually sure how you do that using IE but surely there must be a way? Without some hard data we have nothing to work with as so far this seems pretty unique to you.

It´s not.

Another Swedish SP user at this forum did pm me and told he as well experinced this issue.

Really – I don’t recall that. So – ok 2!

But this gives you a good opportunity to discover if your sites have anything in common – i.e., using the same theme or one of the same plugins that nay be causing some sort of conflict with the Windows Javascript engine. Worth a try anyway.

Thanks for all your help! I did receive an updated plugin from WLM this morning, and there were still some issues. For now, we just won’t use that functionality. Thanks again for helping me track down the culprit! Having the TinyMCE editor buttons is more important to us than the tagging functionality (which wasn’t working regardless, lol). I’m sure that they’ll work out the bugs soon since a LOT of people use both SimplePress and WishList Member. smile

indeed we have a few awaiting the fix just like you.
I have actually been discussing this with the programmer just today and I believe he is close to a solution.

I asked him to write his experince in this thread, but for some reason that i do not know, he choosed to not share. My forum have more than 800 users and approx 20% of them use Internet Explorer, which means 160 users have this issue at my site alone.

I am using only a few plugins and all of them is used long before the latest update (when the TinyMCE issue appeared for the first time). The only plugin we had in common was Contact form 7.

Well was worth a try.
So what about other plugins and your theme? Any updates to those around the same time? Some themes and plugins include special code/css/script for IE (because it is non-standard) which can get old and out of date. Anything like that?

Good afternoon,

I am trying hard to get the TinyMCE Editor visible too. smileBut after working myself through the options given in the topic with no success in one of the sites its still missing.frown

This is very, vey strange. In the english site the TinyMCE is perfect. In the spanish subdomain it does not show up. Both have the same plugins, same configuration, same articles…. jeje.

hard to look at since guests cannot post…  but assume you have enabled the sp plugin through the sp plugins page?  and set if as the default? would be worth going to your sp profile page on front end and making sure that tinymce is the selected editor for you…

on the spanish site, did you select a language for the tinymce plugin in the options?
