I have used the feature on many previous versions of SP, but have yet to get this to work.
Options - General Display Settings -
Skip group view on single forum sites - option is selected with the 'green' ball. View of the single forum is showing collapsed. The user has to click on it to expand. I do have two other forums that have no access, but they do exist.
Do I need to delete those completely before the setting will take effect? Previous versions it worked without having to do that.
What am I doing wrong?

so, just be sure we are saying the same thing here... this options means you have 1 group and 1 forum only defined on your site... This appears to be your case but want to be sure...
Are you saying this did not work for you ever? even on the 4.4 or 4.5 versions? or just an issue in 5.0?
we tested it early in the 5.0 process and have not had any issues reported, but perhaps its something we have knocked since... I can open a ticket for research, but would appreciate knowing that 4.4/4.5 question because we know it worked for others...

This has always worked in the past until version 5.0 even if I had two other hidden forums that were all marked as NO ACCESS to all levels. These were previously used forums which a website owner would keep as an archive, but does not want to delete.
In 5.0, the coding is literally looking to see if you only have 1 forum whether it is LIVE or hidden/archived/no access.
I can try to figure out a work around I guess or just delete the old archived forums that are hidden and make it a literal 1 forum board.

We have opened a ticket on it and it will be fixed for the next update.
