Quotewe are deep into testing it now... expect to let a couple folks beta test it in week or two tops... of course, unless there are issues from our in depth testing here...

Many of my members are sailing around the world and have no internet at sea, and only a (very) slow Wifi connection when at anchor. For now we're using a maillist, and I copy all the "forum worthy" messages myself. Since they all have email, being able to post by email would be a huge plus for our community.
If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know (I'll watch this topic). I could also translate the plugin to Dutch - if I can do it without using glotpress; somehow I can figure out how to work with that 
so I'm back to good old PoEdit

I am wondering whether this feature would also include the mailing list functionality i.e. when a post is created...everyone part of the member group gets the notification about it? Also, when someone responds to a message by email OR through the forum, everyone in the group gets email?
If not right now, I think these features would be great to have down the line so SimplePress can take the place of crappy mailing/discussion lists as well and can replicate a complete Yahoo/Google group for an organization!

No, it does not include a mailing list... that's not really related to post by email... and would be recreating the wheel as there are numerous mailing list plugins for wp already - like the one Martil indicates...

If all goes well, its in its final testing stages... We have used it here for couple months now... One last issue we want to improve on...

We will take stock of it when Andy returns from his vacation later this week... but I think the plan is to release it fairly quick after his return (he wrote the plugin)... but will have to let him decide...
