Trying to upgrade to latest build, get this message on the upgrade page:

An error occurred while updating Simple:Press: Download failed. Service Unavailable

What would be causing that and how can I fix it?

Thank you.

no clue... downloads and updates are occurring... server definitely available...

are  you running any security or firewall plugins or apps that might be blocking access to the simple press domain?

No - it's really odd. I have 2 websites and it's only happening with one. Using the same computer. What do I do?

As we haven't had any other reports of this and if it worked fine on one of your websites I'd say it's almost certainly down to something with your second website. Have you tried deactivating all other plugins?

Its also possible your IP for the domain has been blacklisted for some reason and as such blocked by our firewall..   if you want to pass the IP of the domain to us via PM, we can check (later tonight)...

you could also just download the plugin via our store page and upload via ftp to your server - ie a manual update...

Ike - same plug-ins are used on my other site.

Mr. Papa - same IP used as I'm able to download for my one site no problem but not my other. The site that it won't work on is a newer site that I hired a company to rebuild. So they must have done something in the rebuild where it won't update. I, and they, just don't know what and I was trying to prevent paying them more money to figure out what they did (or didn't do). They said they just did a copy and paste from my old site to the new one.

If there is no obvious solution on your end can you direct me how to do a manual update?

Thank you!

Hello,

I have done extensive testing on this and anytime my website tries to download the update file from https://simple-press.com/downl.....php?id=728, it gets a 503 service unavailable response (see debug log below). The site is able to retrieve the XML file that there is an update, but the zip download just does not work. I tried a brand new installation of Wordpress with nothing other than the Forum on a new subdomain of my site, and I got the same error when trying to update. I tried on another domain, and it updated fine. So it works on everything I try that’s NOT this one top level domain. It even works on the same server with a different domain. Is it possible that my TLD is blocked on simple-press.com's network/firewall?

I have a test site I could send you the details so you could login and test on your end to compare against your logs.

I am fully aware that I can manually update this (and I will until this is resolved), but I am trying to benefit from the convenience of using the updating capabilities of Wordpress, so I would like to get this working.

Thank you very much for your time and help on this.

Here is the debug response output from the package download attempt:
