Please send a PM to both myself (Yellow Swordfish) and Mr Papa with the cr3edentials needed. Plus ftp details as suggested,

It helps if you can include links to not just your forum but also to this topic so we can get to it quickly to re-read what has been said. A brief reminder of the problem is also very helpful.

in your case a dummy topic that can be used for testing would also be helpful thanks

Has your site always been https or did you change that recently and, if so, is that when the problem started?

i ask this because when I try and change a title on your staging site I am being warned that I am sending unsecured data which suggests that SP is not 100% aware that the site is https.

[Update] Well something in your setup is out of control... The site is using https but neither the core WordPress nor Simple:Press are aware of this. Just check in the WP Admin Settings > General to see that both urls are set to http. Same goes for the forum > Integration > Page and Permalink settings.

I am not, at this stage, saying that this is the cause if your problem but I would not be surprised if this is the case. Especially when you add in the use of a plugin like WordFence.

I don't know how your site is running under https without WP being set that way but it is and that is not good and needs sorting before we can go any further. I think @mr-papa - who is more knowledgable than I in this area - will agree.

I checked on the https. My site had been https for a long time, but it seems that something during the staging copy work messed this up. In my main site the general settings were indeed http instead of https, although the entire site is forced through https via a plugin from my hosting company Siteground. I changed this in the general settings of my live site and also in the forum permalink settings, and lo and behold, everything works again as it used to do. I can't believe that this little change had such an effect!

I am so glad that you picked up on this, and I really appreciate that you stuck with me throughout this lengthy process. Thank you very much for your help.

Sorry it took so long but glad we got there in the end.

I wont go all 'techie' on you but I am more surprised that the forum page loaded properly at all with that mismatch but that is probably down to whatever plugin was used to run under https.

Good that it is now back working as it should.
