actually, I mispoke… that option is no longer valid and needs to be removed… from the panel, that is…
the option is now in template tag… so unless you changed from the default in spMembersView.php when calling sp_has_member_groups(), you are doing the limiting which is the default currently…

I must be seriously stupid but how does that explain the difference between ordinary users (who can see all members in all groups) and moderators who can only see the admin and their own group. If what you are saying is true then that means that the ordinary member group is malfunctioning.

no. just changed the default to not limit by usergroup membership... but if you svn up the theme, it will probably go back...
so default for the template tag is not limit - but then for our default/iforum themes, we set the limit flag... but would like to make sure once you do that...
right now, I cannot duplicate your issue with users seeing the moderator usergroups... in my tests, they cannot... so would need to figure out what you have unique again...
and btw, we are considering a major rewrite of the members list stuff... who would have thought something so simple in concept would become one of the most complex display/list issues we have
