you cannot use camel case in shortcodes (WP rule)...  so itemOrder should be itemorder...  beforeTopic would be beforetopic...

I think I might've been confusing on how the sidebar is treating "NEW".  I got confused thinking of someone comments on a topic....it would be back to #1.  But it's only going by the timestamp of the thread start.

So in other words....my bad on that.

Thanks for the syntax stuff Papa.

My recent posts from the forum on the sidebar is outdated...it's not showing the most recent posts either.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't....right now it doesn't.

Here is the code:

[ sp_newest_topics itemorder='T' beforetopic='' ]

can you elaborate on what's not working? do you have a link to your site?

also, no caching plugins, right?

Sure.  It's showing topics as the most recent that are a week old.  None of the recent topics are showing up in the list.

Yet - curiously - if I open up your forum front page, the list of new posts below the group/forum listing is correct - and this uses exactly the same data population routine as the widget.template tag.

Which suggests to me something amiss with the sidebar code you are using. Is this short-code placed in a widget? Direct;y into the theme sidebar template? Or what? Have you tried using the SP widget for this instead of the short-code?

Yes, I was using shortcode with a widget.

The reason I didn't use the SP widget is I wanted it to link to the topic rather then most recent post in the topic, for SEO reasons.

I just used the widget for now so it will display properly.  That's odd that different people are getting different results for the recent posts using the shortcode.  My associates were seeing the same as me, weird.

Yellow Swordfish said
Then I think the problem is our fault - my apologies - but hopefully a fix will on its way to you at the end of this week.
Basically, the function at the end of all this was written to accept an array of forum IDs and not a comma delimited list. And that was wrong as it should have catered for both. I don't think you can send it as an array using a WP style shortcode (whereas you can with a template tag) but this should work after the update all being well.

By any chance is this in the recent upgrade of SP?

In 5.3.2 release - yes

I can taker a look at the short code but surely you can achieve the same data etc.,  with our widget can you not?
