I have SP version 5.6.7 installed, with the default theme.

And I have just installed the latest version of WP 4.6.

When updating to the latest version of SP the Forum menu name changes. See attachments. The issue attachment will show you what happens to the Menu name after updating to the latest version of the forum

Any ideas?

Thanks

Yes

I have attached screenshots of the options I have set. All this is working with SP version 5.6.7 and the SP default theme.

There is a very long standing bug in WordPress that they have ignored for some years and that has haunted us as far as page title processing goes. I wont bore you with the details. We did make some small changes in 5.7 in response to some WP changes so it could be that this one has slipped us up.

We can probably sort out a workaround for you while investigating further, But... firstly - could you tell me what your WordPress permalink is set to?

out of curiosity, does it occur if you do a temp switch to the default wp theme?

What happens if you remove the option for removing the page title completely?

@yellow-swordfish is digging in, but thought I would ask few more questions and gather data..

Yes - I should have asked those two questions above plus a couple more. Sorry I did not think of these yesterday...

@mr-papa asked about a temp switch to a WP default theme. I think the interest in that - and something I should have asked - is about the age and construction of your WP theme. In particular, is the main menu created using the Menu Builder in WP's admin, appearance or customise menu? Once upon a time, this did not exist and menus were created using php functions with no UI to control them. Many of those themes still exist and work. This could be an important question.

The other question I should have asked is if you go to the forum admin > Integration > Page and Permalink - is the option to 'Filter WP list pages' turned on? And if it is not, can you do so and then see if that makes any difference?

Finally, if that does not change anything could you try something for me? IF the theme DOES use a standard menu, could you go to the WordPress 'Pages' and select the forum page for editing. As you are hiding the page name via the SP options - could you edit the page title and ONLY the page title. By default it would have been entitled 'forum'. Change it in some way - for example - to 'forums' and save. (Yes - grammatically incorrect but useful for the test!). Does that fix the issue?

Sorry been busy over the weekend

I have already reverted to the previous version of Simple:Press. So to try all what you say it will take awhile.

A few things.

1. The is not a very old theme and is regularly updated. It's Akita from Themeforest. And it's using the standard Wordpress menu.

2. I have already sent you a screen shot of the Filter WP pages turned on.

understand... but thus far, this is only report of this behavior... and we have not been able to replicate it... so need to see it in action and/or get some data from you...  if truly an issue with simple press, we of course want to fix it...

so just let us know when you get a chance to try the things we asked.. we will be here...

I would add that even if it did turn out to be an issue we need to fix, there is always the alternative of creating a custom menu item that bypasses the normal method meaning it can give you a permanent fix anyway. So it need not cause you and inconvenience.
